Traditional Archery in Nepal
The Nepal Archery Association (NAA) organised a Basic Archery Training in Jomsom, Mustang on 17-23 April 2010. Mustang, which lies north of Pokhara, is a thriving village where traditional archery is very much alive in the Thakali, Magar and Gurung Communities.
The coaching team, led by Mr Kishore Kumar
GURUNG, had just completed a 1-week Solidarity
Coaching Course conducted by Mr Pascal COLMAIRE,
FITA Development and Education Director.

A fair share of opportunity was given to new coaches in training new archers. There were 36 archers including one women; the youngest being 15 years. The training was conducted with four wooden home-made bows and bamboo arrows donated by the NAA. Additional bows, target boss and stands were also donated to the newly founded association by well wishers. The archers were very enthusiastic and the local communities were very supportive of the training. Mr Haridhoj TULACHAN, 1st Vice President of NAA, was present at both the opening and closing ceremonies.
